River North

From humble beginnings to a thriving high-end community, complete with a world-famous art and culture hub, River North is where the heart of the trendy downtown Chicago lifestyle beats.

River North is adjacent to Streeterville, just north of the Chicago Loop. Its boundaries include Chicago Avenue on the north, Michigan Avenue – better known as the Magnificent Mile – on the east, and the Chicago River on the west,

The area that comprises River North today was formerly the Windy City’s industrial and warehouse district. Its abundance of dormant factories and storage buildings was transformed into art studios and workspaces during the 1970s and 1980s. The creative crowd trickled in soon afterward, attracting new business into the neighborhood in the decades that followed.

The reinvigoration of the local economy sparked a wave of residential and mixed-use property development in the area in the 1990s through the early 2010s, creating the vibrant cultural hub that draws sports players and younger urban professionals – both for real estate purchases and casual activities.
