Lakeview

Lakeview is a lively and multi-faceted waterfront community area just 6 miles north of the Chicago Loop. Its borders include West Irving Park Road on the north, West Diversey Parkway on the south, North Ravenswood Avenue on the west, and Lake Michigan on the east. Adjacent to the south is the well-known Lincoln Park neighborhood.

The Lakeview area enjoyed independent growth and urban development relatively early compared to “younger” downtown Chicago communities like River North and the West Loop. Incorporated as a township in 1857, it made a name for itself as a celery-growing agricultural capital.

From 1870 to 1887, the area saw the number of residents grow from 2,000 to 45,000. The township was absorbed by the city of Chicago in 1889 to accommodate the dramatic spike in population. Real estate boomed at the time, forming one of the Windy City’s largest and most diverse community areas today.

From thriving commercial districts to a local community that celebrates diversity and a wide and varied selection of exceptional real estate options – one thing’s for sure in Lakeview: there is always something for everyone here.
